Al Rayyan FC announced yesterday evening the signing of Brazilian Gregory da Silva for two seasons, until 2027, as part of its efforts to strengthen the ranks of the first football team with a number of prominent names in preparation for the new football season 2025-2026, which will start on August 14th.
Gregory Da Silva had arrived in Doha and successfully passed the medical examination at the Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Hospital, becoming eligible to sign with Al Raheeb and defend its colors in the new season as the club’s management looks to return the team to the podiums.
On the other hand, some sources indicated that there are negotiations between club officials and 25-year-old Uruguayan winger Brian Rodriguez in order to bring him in during the next few days to strengthen the offensive line of the Al-Rayyan team, at a time when the fans demand more qualitative deals and strengthen the team’s ranks with the best names capable of achieving the addition in order to compete for the league title.
Last season, the team had to settle for fifth place in the general table with 33 points and the runner-up spot in the Amir Cup after losing to Al Gharafa in the final by two goals to one. Externally, their journey stopped at the round of 16 of the elite Asian Champions League, after they had managed to reach it after finishing seventh in the West Zone league stage. On the other hand, Al Rayyan’s first football team continues its preparations at the training camp held in Spain until August 1, in preparation for the new football season.
Today, the team will play its second friendly match in the preparatory camp against Spanish team Albacete starting at 8:00 pm Doha time, knowing that the first friendly trial ended with a victory against Malaysian team Johor Darul Ta’zim with a goal scored by Julian de Sarte in the 80th minute of the match. Al Rayyan will play Andorra and Minera on the 26th of this month, before concluding their friendly series on July 30th with two strong matches against Saudi Arabia’s Neom and Spain’s Granada B, before returning to Doha to enter the final phase before the start of the new season.
