Chelsea lost to Flamengo 1-3, while PSG lost to Botafogo 1-0 in the second round of the group stage, before both teams managed to regain control.
Chelsea beat Los Angeles and Esperance of Tunisia 2-0, 3-0 and lost to Flamengo in the group stage, before a 4-1 win over Benfica of Portugal in the round of 16, and beat Palmeiras of Brazil 2-1 in the last eight and Fluminense of Brazil by two goals to nil in the semifinals. Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, beat Atletico Madrid with a clean 4-0 and then lost against Botafogo of Brazil with a goal without a goal, before securing their place in the round of 16 by beating Seattle of America with two goals without a goal in the group stage, and the Parisian giant beat Inter Miami with a clean 4-0 in the last eight, then Bayern Munich with a clean double in the last eight, while they beat Real Madrid of Spain with a clean 4-0 in the golden square. Chelsea won the championship trophy, gold medals and financial gains exceeding 114.4 million dollars, while Paris Saint-Germain received silver medals and 106.7 million, after playing the final, which had a market value of about 2.8 billion dollars, according to the global website Transfermarkt. FIFA also awarded Chelsea with a gold badge that will be worn on their shirts until the next edition “in four years.”
FIFA has allocated nearly $1 billion in prizes ($475 million for sports performance and $525 million for participation), with $1 million for a draw and $2 million for a win in the group stage.
Each club was given 7.8 million in the round of 16 stage, 13.1 million in the round of eight, 21 million in the semifinals, 30 million in the final, and 40 million for the champion.
