Luka Modric has turned a historic page in his career, ending his incredible 13-year journey at Real Madrid, during which he won 28 trophies, making him the most decorated player in the club’s history.
With his departure from Real Madrid, Modric ends one of the most successful careers in European football. The Croatian star said goodbye to the fans with a touching message on the club’s channel, saying: “An unforgettable, glorious and triumphant era has come to an end. Just thinking about everything I’ve achieved here gives me great joy, even if this is the end of the journey.”
“This club has given me everything, and for that I will remain grateful for the rest of my life. I will remain a loyal fan of this great team, Madrid and Spain have become my second home.”
Modric is the most decorated player in Real Madrid’s history with 28 trophies, including six Champions League titles: “To be the most decorated player in the best club in history is something to be proud of and makes me feel indescribably happy,” he said.
The fans were not left out of Modric’s words, as he emphasized that their love will remain in his heart: “The affection that Real Madrid fans have given me is priceless. It’s something that no one can take away from me”.
He also thanked Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who played a pivotal role in his career at the Bernabeu, noting that he saw him cry at his farewell, a testament to the human connection between them.
