Qatar Documents House has announced its participation in the Qatar Pavilion at Expo Osaka – Japan 2025, one of the world’s leading events on innovation and knowledge diversity, from July 21-25, to provide an interactive digital experience that highlights Qatar’s documentary heritage and presents it in modern ways that reflect the integration of technology and documentary heritage.
The Qatar Documents House’s participation includes a number of interactive activities, most notably: A document restoration experience using virtual reality, and some of the documents linking Qatar to the participating countries will be displayed using augmented reality in an experience in which the visitor travels between the participating countries.
In this regard, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain, Secretary General of Qatar Documents House, said in a statement today: “Our keenness to participate in Osaka Expo 2025 stems from our awareness of the importance of this international event as a platform that reflects institutional progress and highlights Qatar’s experience in preserving the documentary heritage using modern technologies, thus enhancing the integration of national identity with the tools of the digital age.” He noted that the House’s participation represents a practical opportunity to enhance the common documentary heritage and expand areas of cooperation and exchange with memory preservation authorities in various countries.
He pointed out that the House cooperated with Ajyal Education Center to select a distinguished group of students as ambassadors for Qatar Documents House, where these students participate with the House’s team in spreading awareness and supporting visitors with awareness-raising experiences that highlight the importance of documentation and its role in consolidating national identity from a modern perspective, explaining that this initiative reflects the orientation of the Document House within its 2025-2030 strategy to invest in young national talents, by integrating them in real experiences that enhance awareness and responsibility in the field of documentation, consolidate values in representing Qatar in international forums, and build their capabilities in preserving the national heritage.
As part of its digital experience, QDH has created an innovative interactive space that utilizes artificial intelligence to provide visitors with a visual experience that documents the richness of Qatar’s heritage and national identity. Visitors can take personalized photographs that are digitally integrated with heritage elements inspired by Qatar’s visual memory, such as traditional architecture, traditional clothing, and rare manuscripts. The experience is a creative station that reflects the relationship between the past and the present, and immortalizes the visitor’s interaction with Qatar’s heritage in a modern, vibrant, and innovative setting.
Concluding his statement, Dr. Al Buainain said: “We hope that this participation will contribute to building specialized relationships that support the House’s directions in developing its tools, keeping abreast of technological changes, and benefiting from international experiences in presenting documentary heritage to serve the objectives of document preservation, access and documentation.”
